Winter in Valle de Bravo, Mexico, offers consistent mountain flying, cross country flights and scenic soaring at beautiful locations. Warm days (85 degrees), cool nights in town at 2,100m above sea level. Varied vegitation and pines and other trees in moderate mountains and a big lake at Valle de Bravo.
We concentrate on flying from beginners to advanced, in either hang gliding or paragliding. If this sounds like what you're looking for, then this is the place, Valle de Bravo, and the company FlyMexico tours.
The months of December, January, February, and March are truly superb. We have been hosting flying vacations in Valle de Bravo for 15 years and have never seen such consistent sites in our many years of business. Jeff has flown 45 days straight and one of the original tour guides, John "Ole" Olsen, has the record at 65 straight. Truly a great place to visit during Winter. A virtual Mecca for our flying sports.
There are numerous sites, but the two main ones are El Peñon del Diablo and La Torre. The Peñon is great for thermal and cross country flying. La Torre is by town and overlooks the lake and has a ridge with some thermals mixed in. We have not had a pilot yet who does not love Valle de Bravo.
Things to do (besides flying everyday) range from laying around and relaxing, doing some sightseeing or visiting the local restaurants and shops. Some points of interest are the Monarch butterfly sanctuaries, Nevado de Toluca extinct volcano, Avandaro waterfalls, La Peña, St.Tomas de Los Platanos, lake tours and lake activities like water skiing and wakeboarding or sailing, interesting architecture, equestrian centers, town squares, shops, the artisan market, all in or near Valle de Bravo.
A difficult place to get bored, but if you are interested there are other famous sites such as the pyramids at Teotihuacan outside of Mexico City or Mexico City itself with famous museums, one of the largest plazas in the world.
For those that may have been here many times, we travel to events and other sites in travel tours at special times.
